How It Works
Bunkmate uses a Kubota engine in all of its systems which is reliable and easy to operate.
The Kubota engine is used to drive an alternator which keeps the truck batteries charged while the air conditioning system is in operation.
If the truck alternator happens to fail, this system can be run independently to keep the truck batteries charged in order to get the truck back to the depot or nearest workshop.
The Kubota engine also drives a compressor for the aircon system, which is operated by controls in the sleeper cab.
Depending on the make of the truck, the evaporator can either be mounted in the cab (most effective) or plumbed into the cubby with vents mounted in the bunk.
The air vents are not restricted as the controls are mounted away from them allowing free flowing air from the evaporator.
The condenser is mounted independently with an electric fan and can be easily accessed.
The fuel system is diesel and runs off the truck's diesel tanks.
